TERMS OF SALE FOR HORSES
All of our horses are registered with the AQHA. Any other registry
that a horse is registered with will also be noted. (If any horse
isn't registered it will say so within the info section for that
horse.) We include as much information about the horse's ability
as we can - including any inabilities or flaws. You can see the
horse's pedigree by clicking where indicated for each horse. In
most cases we list the full 8 generation pedigree. We always revise
the date for any page of this website that's been modified. Please
check back on a regular basis.
For Sales within Canada payment to be made via
money order, bank draft, certified cheque or electronic transfer
in whichever currency the horse is indicated for sale as (Canadian
sales require an additional 5% GST). We will provide a negative
coggins test for adult horses (not for weanling foals) if requested,
signed transfer papers, and the original registration certificate
unless other arrangements have been agreed to. If a buyer requests
a vet check, this can be arranged at the buyer's cost. Transportation
is the responsibility of the buyer. Arrangements may be made if
the new home for the horse is within a certain distance from our
farm (please contact us for further details).
For sales to the United States payment to be made
via money order, bank draft, or electronic transfer in whichever
currrency the horse is indicated for sale as. To find out the exchange
rate from US to Canadian currency please click here for our currency
converter. We will provide a negative coggins
test and we will assist with the appropriate export paperwork for
boarder crossing. This is not difficult, but knowing the correct
steps makes it easier to get done. Any fees associated with vet
checks for export paperwork or general health checks are the responsibility
of the buyer. Transportation is the responsibility of the buyer.
Arrangements may be made if the new home for the horse is within
a certain distance from our farm (please contact us for further
details).
Sales Policy: We are honest breeders and we will
disclose any known training/experience, habits, and conformation
flaws up front. All of our horses are gentle and are worked with
or handled every day. Our horses are all rideable, unless they're
only foals. We make sure that all foals are halter broke and will
lead willingly. We do not start any horse under saddle until it
is at least 2 years of age, and then only light riding. Please expect
us to ask you a few questions about your experiences with horses
and what type of horse you are looking to find. We do this to ensure
that our horse is the right match for you. Our horses are generally
trail riding horses and carry good foundation bloodlines. We don't
target any particular equine discipline.
Downpayment on Foals: We require 1/3 of the purchase
price as a downpayment to reserve foals that have not been weaned.
If the potential buyer changes their mind, there is no refund.
If something happens to the foal that it is not in an appropriate
state of health to be sold, at Alder Creek Farm's sole discretion,
a full refund will be issued.
Downpayment on Horses: Upon receipt of $250 the
horse will be reserved for the buyer. Title to the horse still belongs
to Alder Creek Farm and all care of the horse will be the responsibility
of Alder Creek Farm. If the potential buyer changes their mind,
there is no refund. Unless otherwise agreed to by Alder Creek
Farm, the remaining fee for the horse is to be paid within thirty
(30) days of the initial downpayment. Transportation of the horse
must be arranged so that the horse leaves Alder Creek Farm no later
than fourteen (14) days after payment of the horse is made in full.
Full Payment on Horses: If the buyer wants to
pay the entire price agreed to for the horse rather than just a
downpayment, the buyer has immediate title to the horse and is responsible
for all expenses. Original registration certificates and signed
transfer papers may need to accompany the horse when it ships, depending
on cross-boarder requirements. In this event original documentation
may have to stay with the horse for transportation purposes. If
no such shipping requirements apply, the original documentation
can be forwarded to the buyer immediately, or travel with the horse,
at the buyer's discretion.
Title to the Horse: If the horse does not leave
Alder Creek Farm at the same time that title of the horse changes
hands, all care and financial obligation belongs to the buyer
- the horse is considered sold and no refunds will be issued
for any reason. Notwithstanding the foregoing, in the event
that the horse does have to stay at Alder Creek Farm until such
time as transportation can be arranged, the horse will be well treated
but no financial outlay will occur. If a medical emergency
takes place, Alder Creek Farm will use its best judgement to ensure
that what's best for the horse takes place. The fees associated
with such medical emergency will be paid for by the buyer.
Refund: In the event that a horse has a positive
coggins result, a refund will be given for either
a horse where either a downpayment or a full payment has been received,
less a $50 administration charge. Please note that it is the
buyer 's responsibility to get a vet check or soundness exam done
on the horse before either a) payment is made in full, or b) the
horse leaves the property. After either of the aforementioned, no
refunds can be issued.
Questions?: Feel free to email us and ask us any
questions you may have in relation to our sales policy. We are trying
to be fair to all prospective buyers and we hope that you can understand
all the work that goes into each and every prospective sale of one
of our horses. Time is money and we'd like you to spend yours wisely.
We do not trade any of our horses. We reserve the right to name
the new buyer and list the horses' new location by city and province/state.
