THE
SOAP SHED @
ALDER CREEK FARM
Back to top of page
The Soap Shed at Alder Creek Farm, located in the Ottawa Valley,
creates and crafts a very special selection of all natural homemade
soaps. Each batch is carefully measured and watched over with great
care. Our homemade, kitchen brewed soaps are unlike any soap sold
commercially.
In commercially made soap the glycerin (a natural by-product of
the soap making process) is removed and this makes commercial soap
very drying. Soap from The Soap Shed is made from pure vegetable
oils in various combinations, which include olive, almond, coconut,
palm, soybean, and vitamin E oils. Other ingredients are beeswax,
cocoa butter, and spring water. Some additives to the recipes include
honey, herbs, spices, grains, and pure, and/or high quality essential
oils. The weight of each bar varies depending on the ingredients,
but usually each is approximately 100-114 grams when first cut and
a bit less when they are done curing.
The Soap Shed's natural homemade soaps contain no preservatives
and should be used within 12 months of purchase. For longer lasting
soaps, keep them exposed to air and let soap dry out between uses
in a well drained soap dish. All soaps from The Soap Shed are biodegradable,
never tested on animals and use minimal environmentally friendly
packaging.
